The Complexity of My Feelings for Gackt
People might seriously think that if I accidentally met Gackt in the streets of Shibuya, I’d stab him.
If Gackt fans knew who I was, I’d be stoned to death… after all the trashing I’ve done to him in this site. After all, it’s a free world, isn’t it?
I would say, “Malice Mizer is not Malice Mizer if Gackt wasn’t on vocals.” Then, I’d say, “I don’t like Gackt because he left Malice Mizer and that was the end of it.” I’d say “What’s this? Am I still reading Jihaku? Gackt is actually making sense!” Then, I’d say, “YOU’RE nonsense!” I’d say, “His unmistakable charisma was definitely one of the major factors that brought the band soaring popularity during his era.” Then, I’d say, “Seriously, yes, you’re sick, sick sick.” I’d say “Tetsu and Klaha, even Seth of Moi Dix Mois and its former vocalists, I have to say, though I hate to, don’t compare to the force, quality, and style of Gackt’s singing voice.” Then, I’d say, “I hate Gackt.”
So why do I seem to contradict myself? The complexity of it all is because I love this person

Mana-sama & Gackt
I love this duo. Mana-sama made a good decision by picking Gackt as vocalist for Malice Mizer. During the Gackt Era, Malice Mizer was at its best. Just by seeing Mana-sama and Gackt, you’ll know you’ll get an AWESOME live performance. They look perfect together. They could sing to “You and Me Against the World” and CHANGE the world. Too bad it didn’t last… So I hated Gackt for leaving. Yes, Gackt broke my heart. I can’t speak for Mana-sama, but if I were him I’d be broken-hearted. Also, I felt like Mana-sama has changed (music and all) and that his music has hit the bottom after Gackt’s departure and has not recovered until maybe the second or third album of Moi Dix Mois. I don’t know if Mana-sama and Gackt grew closer in their years together and I don’t even know if they were in good terms when they went their separate ways. My SO once e-mailed Gackt because he’s a Gackt fan and in the last part of his e-mail, he asked if he and Mana still talk to each other. He answered back, but didn’t give any comments about it. I think I’m gonna cry…
Malice Mizer and Gackt
After reading Jihaku and contemplating on the chapter: The Truth About My Departure From Malice Mizer, I think Gackt wasn’t really angry towards the other members and that the one who said that “Malice Mizer is over” was probably someone from Columbia. If it was one of the band members then Malice Mizer should have ended with Gackt, but then they went back to Midi:Nette and found a new vocalist. There was the money problem of the other members like he mentioned, but also Gackt had always wanted to achieve a higher level in his ability. I also hope that all the things he said (like his regrets about not talking to Kami directly) in the chapter about Kami’s Death, were ALL true.

There are only two people in this world whom I address as -sama. Mana-sama and Haido-sama. It’s because I love and respect them.
I have said in my previous post that I was touched by Moon Child. Kei and Sho are not only characters in a movie for me anymore. They have become like friends from my past. I’ll explain this in another post.
So it’s true then that Gackt fancies Haido-sama, eh?
… Grrr, G-A-C-K-T!!!

Honestly, I’m a Gackt-fan and a Hyde fan too. A fanboy, at that.
Anyway, I would really agree that Mana and Gackt were powerful together in Malice Mizer, but I would also like to point that each member of MM contributed his own talent to the team’s excellence. So I couldn’t imagine another drummer replacing Kami and, in fact, I don’t think the support drummers on the Klaha albums could match up to Kami’s talent.
Well, I did bear some hard feelings towards Gackt when he left MM, mainly because the group was at its peak and I think he ruined it. Well, I continued to follow him through his solo career which I think is excellent in its own right, but I wouldn’t compare it with Malice Mizer.
To say that Tetsu nor Klaha could compare to Gackt would be unfair to the other two. Tetsu and Klaha had their own strengths in their singing, but it just happened that Gackt was the most charismatic when it comes to dealing with his audiences. If I remember, Tetsu wasn’t all that famous with the audiences because of his voice, but he was good in his own right.
Hehehe… to tell the truth, I have the entire MM compendium downloaded although I chose not to keep the instrumental singles during the “no vocalist” era. That’s why I was able to compare all three vocalists to each other.

And, yeah, before I forget this… I can’t help but compare the Malice Mizer story to Guns n’ Roses only that in GnR, the opposite caused the breakup of the band. In MM, Gackt’s self confidence and desire to exert more creative control caused him to depart from the band, while in GnR the same caused the other members to depart and the vocalist to stay. Hehehe.

…^^;. I’m sorry for such a late comment, and to be completely honost, I just sort of stumbled to this page…
I feel sort of left out, hahaha, because I don’t really know much of Malice Mizer. I mean, I stumbled upon Gackt by the Final Fantasy games, then, after loosing interest, stumbled upon him once again randomly, and after watching Moon Child and some of his interviews…I guess I’m sort of a fan.
I never really knew about Malice Mizer until I read peoples comments about him.
I guess I can understand where you’re coming from. ^^; When I started looking into Malice Mizer, Mana-sama was the first one who caught my intrest, and then after reading Jihaku he just seemed so much cooler.
But, I really appreciate Gackt, and I appreciate Mana- sama for helping Gackt get to where he is. I mean, I don’t know enough about either of them to say wheather or not they’re good people, but I really admire both of them.
Hmmm. Sorry, ^^;. What am I getting at? Well, I enjoyed reading your post. …And if I didn’t like Gackt and found out that he also liked Hyde…I’d be angry too. But to be honost, it’s because of Gackt that I REALLY spent the time looking into Hyde. After he left L’Arc~En~Ciel I was pretty upset and got over them, then after Moon Child I watched Last Quarter and Hyde interviews and…Well. I ish a fan now. ^^;

he’s too much narcissist to think MM broke up because of HIM…JAJAJAJAJAJAJA…so sweet, poor him…
i’ve said it before, and i say it again MM was Mana, Közi and Yu~ki (Kami *RIP* of curse) no one else…so if Malice Mizer broke up was because principally a Mana-sama desicion (yes, it hurts T_T) cause he wanted to start his very much time ago planned project: Moi dix Mois…
I love Malice Mizer too much, i think they were the perfect band (doesn’t matter the vocals they have) and they prove it after two vocal leaves, after GACKT leaves, after KAMI’s death, they keep alive, they found Klaha and perform lives, not as Gackt era cause i must recognize that visuals on Gackt’s era were the best for too much, but they were in a different form from taht with Gackt, they came back to under and dark-goth style, the REAL Malice Mizer roots as Mana said, and i love these roots a little more than Gackt’s MM stylish…
and to finish…i’m not sure of what my feelings would be if i wake up one day and i know Mana and Gackt worked together again…i thing that must be a little creepy now because they’re really differents now…

I was just watching Bel Air, Le Ciel, Au Revoir, & Gekka no Yosouyaku’s live preformances and I swear I almost cried. I mean have you seen Gekka no Yashouyaku live?! [i think I spelled it wrong my apologies/watch it on youtube if you havdn't] when gackt and mana are doing that cheesy but cute twirl its just so beautiful! gackt would look silly twirling but with mana it gives it all a strange, almost enchanting perfection! I love them both but gackt still makes me sad. T~T

you got it girl!!!!!!!!!! i suppose many of us feel like that toward gackt, at least the ones tha love Mana-Sama ( like me!!) or the ones that love Haido…though i really would love a gackt x haido jajaja. any way, do no feel so trouble about ur mixed feelings toward gackt, he is such a strange and marvellous character that we just can’t avoid loving him or hating him.
